Osteoporosis Education Program: “Healthy Bones”

National Council of Jewish Women of Canada, Winnipeg Section will be presenting an evening to discuss and learn about osteoporosis.

The “Healthy Bones” Program will take place on Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at 7:30 p.m. at 25 Hermitage Road, Headingley.

Speakers from Osteoporosis Canada will be Michelle Glass, pharmacist and co-president of NCJW, Wpg. Section as well as Lori De Pauw, Physiotherapist and Pat McCarthy-Briggs, Dietician.

Fractures from osteoporosis are more common than heart attack, stroke and breast cancer combined. At least one in three women and one in five men will suffer from a broken bone due to osteoporosis during their lifetime. Osteoporosis is a disease characterized by low bone mass and deterioration of bone tissue. This leads to increased bone fragility and risk of fracture (broken bones), particularly of the hip, spine and wrist. The reduced quality of life for those with osteoporosis is enormous. Osteoporosis can result in disfigurement, lowered self-esteem, reduction or loss of mobility, and decreased independence.

Find out if you are at risk, how to prevent, and how to treat this condition. Learn from the experts!

There is no charge for this program.

All are invited to attend.

Light refreshments will be served
